I love a cute bikini as much as the next girl. It's always fun looking for the perfect new bathing suit for the upcoming swim season, and deciding what looks best: bandeau or halter? Patterned or solid?
What I don't like about bikinis is the sunburn that comes along with them. I have extremely fair skin and burn super easily. My days at the beach and pool are spent reapplying Neutrogena SPF 50+ and hiding myself under a sunhat (big and floppy, of course!)
Why would I expect to not get burnt though? My skin is barely covered, and the most sunburn-prone areas of my body (shoulders and back) are fully exposed. I enjoy going to the beach and pool, but I worry about sun damage to my skin.
What's a (fair-skinned or otherwise sun-conscious) girl to do?

I'm not saying I will be wearing a rash guard every time I hit the beach or pool, but I definitely think it is worth wearing one periodically. Give your skin a break from the sun's harsh rays!
I think the rash guards are quite stylish (and sporty!). Proof that looking good doesn't have to involve showing a lot of skin.

The photos you added at the bottom are pretty convincing. A while back I saw a photo of Nicole Kidman wearing one too. If I had a pool I'd wear one there or if I had a beach house I'd probably wear one sometimes too or if I did pool exercises I'd wear one for sure, but if on vacation I think I'll stick to the bikinis and load on the sunscreen, I think I'd feel like the old fuddy duddy being the only one wearing one, which is very bad of me, but maybe if a few other people were wearing one it would be better, I know I'd feel lousy with all the other girls looking fab and sexy in their bikinis and me all covered up. Stupid and vain I know, but I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible so a few times on the beach I'd just like to be like everyone else. That said you should google Nigella Lawson, I saw a photo of her wearing a head to toe black bathing outfit, I've seen a show in Japan where the ladies even have ones that cover their faces!
