Woven Newspaper Basket

It's no secret I love Pinterest (follow me here!) I'm constantly pinning various things that inspire me or that I'd like to create.

However, I've realized that in the time I sit and pin on my phone/computer, I could actually be trying out some of the projects/recipe/ideas that I pin. It seems like I'm ALWAYS pinning, but NEVER doing.

On Friday, I decided to change that. I went to my Getting Crafty pinboard and scrolled through some of my most recent pins. I was looking for a project I could complete that afternoon (We had a half day of school) and that didn't require me to go buy materials. (Hello, who wants to leave the house when the temps are in the negatives?! Not me!!). Finally I found a project that I wanted to try.

                                                     Introducing the "Newspaper Basket"

I used the tutorial from Nifty Thrifty Things

The instructions were relatively clear. The only hard part was maintaining a tight weave and making sure the edging was neat. Although not perfect, I'm happy with the way mine turned out.

I posted a video on my Vine account of the base being woven together.

So cute. Cost me absolutely nothing to make (And I was helping the environment by recycling!)

So, what did I use it for you may ask?
I found it was the perfect size to store some lotions/sunscreen that had been floating around in my make-up drawer.

Who wouldn't want to put on sunscreen every day when it's stored in such a cute little basket?

Have you woven anything out of newspaper? How did it turn out? Any tips to improve my project?
Let me know what you think, and link up pictures, blog posts, etc. in the comments!

Welcome!

I've been putting this post off for a long, long time.

For those of you who follow my Tumblr , thank you so much for joining me as I embark on my new blogging adventure!

And for those of you who are new to Stylish.Classy.Creative, I'd like to welcome you!

I started my blog on Tumblr in January of 2011 as a New Year's Resolution. The more I got into blogging and social media and connecting with other bloggers, the more and more I outgrew the types of posts that Tumblr allowed me to do.

I have wanted to move my blog to blogger for about a year now, but fear held me back. I was afraid my blog wasn't going to look like all the amazing fashion and lifestyle blogs out there.

And the truth is, of course it doesn't!

This blog is going to be a work in progress. I took a basic HTML class my first semester, so hopefully I can implement some of the skills I learned.

Down the road I may look into hiring a professional to design my blog. But for now, I am going to do what I do best: WRITE!

I appreciate your support during this time, and I hope you will stay tuned for plenty of fashion, crafts, outfits, and inspiration!
